Brief description: In 2002 Germanwings entered the market as a low-cost airline, initially as a subsidiary of Eurowings, and from 2009 of Lufthansa. From 2012 to 2015, Germanwings gradually took over all Lufthansa flights outside the Frankfurt and Munich hubs; from the end of 2015, these flights were marketed by Eurowings with Germanwings as one of the operating airlines. Since end of March 2020, flight operations were discontinued, but individual flights continue to be operated under the Germanwings AOC in order to be able to obtain the emission certificates. Germanwings has transferred all its aircraft to Eurowings and there is no longer any aircraft in its own colour scheme in service.
